Today's guest graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in History and Womens studies and from there she went on to get a Bachelor's degree in Journalism from Ryerson University. She started her career working as a reporter with the Ottawa Citizen and then went on to work for some of Canada’s largest news publications including the National Post and the Globe and Mail. In 2012 she switched career paths taking on the role of Senior Communications Advisor to Kathleen Wynne, then the Provincial Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, and the Minister of Aboriginal Affairs. When Wynne became Ontario Premier, Siri was elevated to her Deputy Director of Communications. After leaving politics she worked as Vice President of Pilot PMR a boutique communications strategy firm that specializes in brand development and story design. She was then recruited back into politics joining the office of Toronto Mayor John Tory as his Director of Strategic Initiatives, and it was there she would have the opportunity to work with the local tech ecosystem in Toronto helping attract investment and building the city’s reputation as a technology center and leveraging partnerships with companies like Ritual, Waze and Miovision. Soon she was falling through the rabbit hole of this Toronto tech ecosystem and in 2018 she was appointed as Executive Director of OneEleven.
